THE INTEGRITY OF GOD

MEMORY VERSE: “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” Numbers 23: 19

LESSON TEXT – Genesis 18: 9-14

LESSON INTRODUCTION

Integrity is the quality of being honest and upright in character, adherence to moral and ethical principles. It simply means saying what you will do and doing what you say, Num. 23: 19. There are fundamental questions to be asked about the integrity of God. Who is God? How reliable are His words or promises? Does He have the capacity to do what He has said? Are there testimonies to this fact?

LESSON OUTLINES

  1. THE UNCHANGEABLE GOD AND HIS WORD
  2. THE TESTIMONIES OF HIS INTEGRITY
  1. THE UNCHANGEABLE GOD AND HIS WORD

God is unchangeable Mal. 3: 6a. He also upholds His integrity through His word because:

  • His word is True, Jn. 17: 17
  • His word is Certain, Isa. 40: 8; Ps. 119: 89
  • His word is Pure, Prov. 30: 5; Ps. 12: 6
  • His word is Life, Jn. 6: 63
  • His word is Quick and Powerful, Heb. 4: 12
  • His word is Yea and Amen, 2 Cor. 1: 20
  • THE TESTIMONIES OF HIS INTEGRITY

Our God remains the same yesterday, today and forever. Whatever He has done before He can do again. There are testimonies in the Bible that confirm His integrity.

  • God promised to make Abraham the father of many nations and He fulfilled it, Gen. 17: 4-5; Rom. 4: 17.
  • God spoke about the captivity of the Israelites in a strange land and their deliverance after four hundred years, Gen. 15: 13; Ex. 12: 40-41.
  • God promised to establish the throne of David through his seeds, 2 Sam. 7: 12-16; 1 Kgs. 1: 48
  • God showed to Joseph a vision of his greatness and He fulfilled it, Gen. 37: 6-7; 41: 39-41.
  • Jesus talked about “the temple” that will be destroyed and rebuilt after three days, Jn. 2: 19; 1 Cor. 15: 4.

CONCLUSION

God cannot be bound by His word if the terms and conditions are not fulfilled by man, 1 Sam. 2: 27-30; 3: 12-13.
